POSITION: Communications Intern

TYPE: Unpaid internship

HOURS: Flexible, approx 5 hours/week

DURATION: June – August 2013

COMPENSATION: This is an unpaid internship, but interns will have access to some free entertainment benefits at West Bank entertainment venues.

REPORTS TO: Scott Artley, Communications & Programs Specialist

 

The Communications Intern will provide valuable assistance and support to the West Bank Business Association. This position’s primary responsibility will be populating thewestbank.org district website with local events and assisting with producing the What’s On the West Bank bi-weekly e-newsletter.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Input events into the district’s comprehensive online web calendar on thewestbank.org by copying information from the online calendars of West Bank venues

  • Assist with drafting the What’s On the West Bank e-newsletters on an online email service (no design experience necessary) every other week

  • With other staff members, participate in continuing and growing a strong social media presence through Facebook, Twitter, and more

  • Assist with special communications and promotional efforts as requested

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Collaborative working style, able to work independently and remotely

  • Strong reliability and work ethic

  • Must have own computer and regular access to the internet

  • Interest in performing arts, music, or neighborhood engagement a plus
