Free Trees for Minneapolis Businesses

The City of Minneapolis is planting free trees on eligible commercial properties for the second year, and your property is a possible location for a free tree in either the spring or fall planting. Our contractor will help choose the tree and the planting location on your property. The contractor will plant the tree too. Your only obligation would be to care for the tree over the years.

In order to qualify, businesses need to

  • ·        Pay a pollution control annual bill (a “PCAB” or pollution registration for equipment such as air conditioning units, public restrooms, restaurant hoods, etc.)
  • ·        Have enough green space to accommodate a tree
  • ·        Maintain and water the tree (especially the first two years)

Please note: we are not able to plant on boulevards, as that is public property.

Please let me know if you would like to consider a free tree, and please help spread the word to the businesses you work with.  You can forward this email or refer other business owners here:

The City of Minneapolis Environmental Services Unit is helping boost the urban canopy by partnering with eligible businesses to plant trees on commercial properties that pay an annual pollution control fee.

I am happy to answer any questions via or in person.

Thank you,
