West Bank Music Festival Updates

Hello friends,

Apologies for the delay in sending out this summary and notification. As you may be aware, the third weekend in August (this approaching weekend) is when the West Bank Music Festival would traditionally be held.

Due several factors such as the upcoming construction along Cedar Ave, the consequences construction would have on the logistics and expense of a festival, the mixed financial success of last year’s event, and the lack of sponsorship/venue interest in a 2014 festival or crawl-style event, the WBBA decided to suspend any planning for the 2014 music festival.

As permits had not yet been secured nor bands contracted, this decision was made with no negative repercussions on participating artists and no financial loss to the WBBA.

For those interested in getting their West Bank fix we recommend a number of excellent events taking place on Saturday August 16, 2014.

  • The Nomad will be hosting a  Piñata Records Field Day! starting at 3pm with live music from the Grolar Bars, Southside Desire and more.
  • Triple Rock Social Club will be featuring a stellar show with Phillip Morris, Cherry Sky and more,
  • And Acadia will be hosting Eustace the Dragon, illium, and more (and no cover!)

The WBBA will be evaluating the viability event and exploring alternative models for 2015. If we move forward with this event, we want it to be a strong community-led event representative of the West Bank community in which it lives. If you’re interested in being a part of this planning process, please email: info@thewestbank.org with your email and/or phone number and we’ll get in touch with you when the first committee meeting takes place.

The West Bank Ride (westbankride.org) will be taking place on October 4, 2014 as scheduled and we’re excited to share a number of new spots and activities with you at this year’s event!

The WBBA and its board and staff want to sincerely thank all the volunteers, artists, vendors and sponsors that have made past festivals so wonderful. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you again on future West Bank events and activities.

Yours,

Jamie Schumacher

Executive Director
