UofM Training Exercise on Weds

On Wednesday, August 14, the University of Minnesota will hold an emergency training exercise on the West Bank campus beginning at 9:00 a.m. The emergency training exercise will take place at the two Regis Center for Art buildings (east and west), located at 405 and 418 21st Avenue S, Minneapolis. See http://www1.umn.edu/twincities/maps/RegCtrE/

This exercise will allow multiple agencies to test and practice working together so they will continue to be well prepared when responding to major emergencies. This is an exercise only and not an actual emergency.

It is likely that those living, going to school, doing business or just visiting the nearby area will see and/or hear extra law enforcement and emergency activity on campus, including emergency sirens and announcements on the U’s emergency sound system, as well as certain street and parking lot closures. There will also be a number of emergency vehicles parked on the U of M lot across from Augsburg College’s Oren Gateway Center off Riverside Avenue S between 21st and 22nd Avenues S.
Included below are flyers with information about the training exercise to share with the residents and businesses in the community.  We would appreciate your help in getting the word out so community members understand there is NOT an actual emergency taking place.
