WBBA July Member Meeting canceled


If you haven’t heard yet, we’re proud to announce that our Executive Director Jamie Schumacher has a new addition to the family – Madeline Anne Johnson – born Saturday July 6, 1:27pm. 7lbs, 10oz, 21 inches (if you’ve met her husband Nick, you’ll know this kid gets her height from her dad!).

Because Jamie is on leave for a few weeks, the Executive Committee has decided to cancel July’s monthly Member/Delegate Meeting next week (Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Augsburg).

In the meantime, enjoy the summer and we look forward to getting together again on Thursday, August 15th for the next monthly meeting a couple days before the West Bank Music Festival on Saturday, August 17th. Please review some important updates below.

The major agenda item at this month’s meeting was voting on the latest draft of the organization’s bylaws. The Membership Committee resolved to push back this vote so that we can have more conversations with business owners and work together to build a solution. Discussion on bylaws revisions is ongoing, and will happen through the Membership Committee, which meets on the second Thursday of each month from 9:00-10:00am at Mapps. The next Membership Committee meeting is Thursday, August 8th, and we invite West Bank businesses to participate in the discussion then. The organization’s current bylaws and two proposed drafts of revisions can be found below (right-click, or control-click and select Save As).

We’re also heading into “crunch-time” for the West Bank Music Festival. The Festival Committee has been hard at work for months making plans, and we invite those interested to attend planning meetings, which are now held bi-weekly until the event on Saturday, August 17th. Upcoming meetings will be Thursday, July 25th and Thursday, August 8th–both 5:00pm at Whiskey Junction.

We are especially in need of volunteers to make this year’s Festival run smoothly. How do you plan to take advantage of the thousands of people coming to the West Bank next month? Set up tables and chairs on the street, hawk your wares, offer discounts or “next time you visit” coupons. Just some ideas, connect with us if you want to bounce some more!
